If your shooting Pyrodex RS then 80-85 grains will be fine. Triple Seven 2f I shoot 70 grains of it. And I use a wad between the powder and the patch.Triple Seven 2F will work just fine in you TC Hawken 54 cal. In my rifle I use 120 grains of triple seven 2f, felt wad over powder, Hornady 390 gr HP Great Plains bullet, CCI #11 mag caps and a Hot shot nipple. However, on my rifle, the hammer strikes the nipple more to one side instead of being centered. That may present the problem of hitting the musket cap.
